Philly Thrive members have been organizing for environmental justice since 2015. Read about Philly Thrive's action circles below & get excited to take action with us


Campaign strategy circles: 

  • Cleanup circle: contesting for power around remediation of the 1300 acre PES refinery site

  • Hilco Circle: responsible for beginning to prepare to contest for the redevelopment side of the future of refinery land
  • Green recovery circle: developing a policy study program to prepare to demand a Green Recovery that repairs and transforms Philadelphia’s economy to that tackle COVID, climate change and inequality

Basebuilding and resourcing action circles

  • Membership Circle: responsible for the recruitment, retention, and development of Thrive members
  • Community Care Circle: meeting our community’s needs in COVID so we can contest for systems change, through direct support (food box drop-offs, doing laundry, mask deliveries, and prescription pick-ups) as well as emotional support (fun online gatherings, grief support, and phone check-ins)

  • Tech Circle: redistributes internet devices into Thrive community in order to access internet during & after COVID19 and offers training & support on internet programs like Zoom & Google Docs

  • Communications Circle: holds down our social media to ensure members and supporters stay updated on Thrive events and to offer content that invites further thinking about racial and environmental justice, and builds our relationships with press

  • Women’s Circle: a safe space for women to heal together, learning to share our needs with each other in community as we prepare to demand policy and systems change.

  • Funds Circle: responsible for helping our movement raise and spend the resources we need to grow, through planning grassroots fundraising drives and events, and facilitating our yearly participatory budget development process

  • Thrive HQ Circle: a temporary circle, responsible for renting Philly Thrive’s first office space in South Philly!
