Philadelphians joined together to demand our Right to Breathe and won an end to 154 years of oil refining in South Philly. In January, the refinery land was auctioned off to Hilco Redevelopment Partners, a global real estate company who plans to demolish the refinery.
Hilco now holds responsibility for cleaning up contamination and giving the land new life. This is a historic transformation, accounting for 2% of land in Philadelphia in what is the largest planned redevelopment since William Penn in 1682. Everyday Philadelphians were the catalysts for this rebirth, and it's up to us to make sure the future of the land restores racial, economic, & environmental justice.
Tune into Hilco's first virtual public meeting to learn more about who Hilco is, what their plans are with the land, and have your questions answered. Philly Thrive encourages all to participate in the beginning of a thorough public process to restore justice to this land!
We will post the Zoom link to the meeting & any other details as we receive them from Hilco. You may email questions you'd like Hilco to answer & RSVP by contacting [email protected] or 215-339-7522.
**This meeting is organized & run by Hilco. This event page and our Facebook event are for the purposes of spreading the word about the meeting. Please share the Facebook event and invite friends.**
After hearing Hilco's plans for the site, join Philly Thrive to launch our goals for the redevelopment.
